The goal of this experiment is to perform experimental evaluation of decentralized and scalable membership protocols that can be leveraged to extend the execution of cloud data center applications towards the edge in a dynamic fashion.
In particular we are going to experiment with variants of the HyParView, Plumtree, and X-BOT protocols to understand the better solutions to support different applications with different requirmentes. As an initial use case we are going to consider geo-replicated and distributed data storage systems, such as the Cassandra system.
